Champua, 20 November: The Maa Tarini Home Hospital today inaugurated its newly established Independent Newborn Care Unit (NICU). The unit was formally launched by the hospital’s owner and Managing Director, Dr. Ganeshwar Mahanta, following traditional Hindu rituals and prayers. All doctors, nurses, and staff members of the hospital were present during the ceremony.

With this new facility, a long-standing need of the Champua Sub-division has finally been fulfilled. Until now, many critically ill newborns had to be taken to far-off cities for advanced care, resulting in high expenses and delays in treatment.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mahanta stated that the state-of-the-art Newborn Care Unit, managed by experienced doctors and trained nurses, will now provide high-quality treatment at affordable cost. This will significantly improve the chances of saving critically ill newborns within the sub-division itself.

After the news of this advanced facility becoming available for the first time in the Champua region, local residents expressed great relief and appreciation.

The new unit includes:

  • CPAP machine

  • Phototherapy equipment

  • Temperature regulation system

  • Routine immunization services for newborns

These details were shared by MD Dr. Ganeshwar Mahanta.

Among others present at the inauguration ceremony were Suchismita Mahanta, Director of Maa Tarini Hospital; Dr. Chittaranjan Nayak, Dr. Samir Jyotiram, Dr. Rajowala Mahanti, Dr. R.N. Bal, Dr. C.R. Patra; and journalists Pradeep Pradhan, Sanjeeb Raj, Maheshwar Das, Shantanu Dash and others.
